Come to comino Website
The latest site designed and built by madra.net is now live. cometocomino.com is a site promoting the island of Comino, which lies off the coast of Malta.
The commission involved creating an online version of a small pamphlet/guidebook, published by Maltese resident and frequent visitor to Comino, Dick Evans.
For the website design, madra.net chose to take the map printed in the guidebook as the focal point and create an interactive version of this, which allows site users to browse the map and then click on places of interest to read more about them and link to other sections of the site which give in-depth information.
Technologies used were as follows:
- Hugo —was used as the static site generation tool, with a custom theme designed for the site.
- jQuery — was used to power the various dropdown menus and to provide the logic where elements on the map had to integrate with other site elements.
- Mapbox — was used to provide the embedded map and load the points of interest via an external GeoJSON file.
The site is not completely finished yet, as there are plans to incorporate drone footage, to show aerial views of some of the attractions of the island. However the client thought we should ‘go live’ now and add the extra content later, as it becomes available.
